Detail:
DuraMist Concentric Direct Connection (DC) Nebulizer
The DuraMist concentric nebulizer is the most economical nebulizer for high precision analyses involving samples digested in HF. Glass Expansion DC (Direct Connection) nebulizer has a UniFit sample connector which slides easily over the sample arm and an argon gas connector configured to connect directly to your ICP
What are the Key Features of the DuraMist Nebulizer?
- Inert Material: Constructed from PEEK (polyether ether ketone). That is because this robust and inert material resists corrosion and chemical attack, including from acids like HF.
- Concentric Design: The concentric design has a smooth capillary tip. As a result, it contributes to high sensitivity and excellent precision.
- High Tolerance to Dissolved Solids: The smooth surface of the capillary and nebulizer tip allows for a high tolerance to dissolved solids, typically up to 30%.
- HF Resistance: It is designed to handle samples containing up to 5% hydrofluoric acid (HF).
- High Physical Reproducibility: Minimal nebulizer-to-nebulizer variability. This ensures consistent analytical performance.
- Self-Aspirating: The DuraMist is a self-aspirating nebulizer. For example, it draws the sample into the nebulizer without the need for an external pump.
- Direct Connect: The DuraMist DC nebulizer features a direct connect installation. As a result, it seamlessly integrates with various ICP-OES and ICP-MS models.
- UniFit Sample Connector: The UniFit sample connector provides an excellent seal and a zero-dead-volume connection.
- Compatible with LC Interface: The sample arm of the DuraMist is compatible with Glass Expansion’s Liquid Chromatography (LC) interface kit.
How does the DuraMist Differ from Other ICP Nebulizers?
- Material: Unlike traditional glass or quartz nebulizers, the DuraMist is made of inert PEEK, making it suitable for samples containing HF and other corrosive acids.
- Concentric vs. Parallel-Path: While parallel-path (or v-groove) nebulizers are designed to resist blockages, they may have larger droplets and a wider droplet size distribution, potentially affecting efficiency and precision. The DuraMist’s concentric design offers a balance of sensitivity and tolerance to dissolved solids.
- Dissolved Solids Tolerance: The DuraMist has a higher tolerance to dissolved solids compared to some other concentric nebulizers, allowing for the analysis of a wider range of samples.
- Applications: While concentric nebulizers are ideal for routine analysis of aqueous samples, the DuraMist is a versatile “all-rounder” suitable for a variety of sample types, including those containing HF and high concentrations of dissolved solids.
