What Does a Drain Pressure Lock Do?
- Maintains Backpressure: The liquid trapped in the pressure lock creates a physical seal. This prevents the nebulizer gas from blowing the aerosol directly out of the drain instead of into the plasma torch.
- Provides Steady Drainage: It allows waste liquid to be smoothly pumped out (via the peristaltic pump) without leaking gas or air into the spray chamber.
- Improves Signal Stability: A properly functioning drain pressure lock reduces signal noise, erratic RSDs (Relative Standard Deviations), and “spitting” or memory effects
